Duke Intelligent Interactive Internet of Things (I3T) Lab is dedicated to creating human-facing pervasive mobile computing platforms that enable fundamentally novel transformative applications. Our research lies at the intersection of sensor, mobile, and pervasive computer systems and communications and networking. We are driven to create pervasive systems that support users in leading healthy and productive lives and in reaching their personal and professional goals.
The focus of our recent work is on creating advanced augmented reality (AR) platforms that integrate edge computing and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to enable contextual, responsive, scalable, and resource-aware AR experiences. We conduct foundational research in edge AI, collaborative and infrastructure-assisted spatial and semantic awareness for mobile AR, AR user cognitive context sensing, and AR QoS and QoE evaluation. We demonstrate applications of next-generation AR in healthcare and human-robot collaboration scenarios.
