New Publication: “Looking” into Attention Patterns in Extended Reality: An Eye Tracking–Based Study

October 1, 2024 | Paper evaluating user attention in AR and VR appearing in IEEE ISMAR 2024

Paper led by I3T PhD student Zhehan Qu titled “Looking” into Attention Patterns in Extended Reality: An Eye Tracking–Based Study is appearing in IEEE ISMAR 2024. This paper evaluates user attention patterns in AR and VR, for a cognitively challenging AR-assisted task - Sudoku puzzle solving, - in presence of contextual distractors. The study reveals intriguing differences between VR simulations and AR and serve as a starting point for the development of countermeasures for suboptimal attentional states in XR applications.
